A 57-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle in downtown Yellowknife this morning.
A witness at the scene stated the woman was attempting to cross the street at 52 Avenue and 54 street when a truck which was traveling at a high rate of speed struck the female. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was questioned by the RCMP.
Julie Plourde is the Media Relations Officer with the Northwest Territories RCMP in Yellowknife.
“At approximately 9:00 a.m., on Monday, September 30th, Yellowknife RCMP responded to a call for service regarding a motor vehicle collision in the area of 52 Avenue and 54 Street,” Plourde said. “A pedestrian was allegedly struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian has been transported by the City of Yellowknife Emergency Medical Services to the hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury.”
The investigation is ongoing.
