Update: Vessel found; search continues say RCMP

As Hay River RCMP and Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (Trenton) are continuing the search and rescue operation for four overdue fishermen, an air resource identified a submerged vessel.

At approximately 9:00 a.m., a CC138 Twin Otter from JRCC Trenton spotted what appeared to be a vessel partially submerged in the water near Windy Bay, on Great Slave Lake.

Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary and Canadian Coast Guard vessels investigated and confirmed that the submerged boat was the one used by the overdue fishermen.

There were no sightings of the fishermen.

The search for the four fishermen continues.  The investigation is ongoing and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
