At approximately 4:40 p.m., on Sunday, October 6th, Aklavik RCMP received a call for service regarding an injured 36-year-old man who was lying on the ground, in front of a residence.
When police arrived on the scene, the victim was en route to the local health centre by community members. The victim was transferred by Medevac to Yellowknife, and then Edmonton a few hours later to treat a serious, life-threatening injury.
RCMP started an investigation and subsequently arrested a 28-year-old man. The man has been remanded and escorted to Yellowknife. Charges are pending.
No weapons were involved in this incident, and this was not a random act as both parties knew each other. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Aklavik RCMP at 978-1111.
