AVENS announces a new Board Executive Committee

AVENS, A Community for Seniors announces the new AVENS Board Executive Committee and the appointment of committee chairs.

The AVENS Board is delighted to be welcoming its returning board members who represent the vitality and success of our community, says new Board President Marion Lavigne.

“The Board and staff are excited about our plans to move ahead with new independent housing options,” Lavigne said. “While continuing to promote our unique offering of seniors care and of course, maintain a safe and caring community for our seniors.”

Long-serving AVENS Board member and Past President, Ron Allen, echoed similar comments.

“We have a full set of very competent, experienced and dedicated board members with an excellent cross-section of skills and experience, Allen said. “I want to personally thank them for their ongoing dedication and their volunteer commitments to AVENS.”

Allen is stepping down from executive duties, after a successful year as President CEO Mr. Daryl Dolynny says.

“These individuals who bring a broad range of business, public and cultural skills to the board table, represent what is so great about the NWT and how AVENS fits in this equation,” Dolynny said. “Their desire to support AVENS in their role as board members speak volumes of their level of civic engagement and for what AVENS stands for.”

Since its beginning,  AVENS has worked very hard to establish programs and services not only for Yellowknife seniors but for seniors across the NWT.

In the future, AVENS board’s vision is to address aging challenges across the entire housing and care continuum. Their draft expansion plan envisions growth of residential living choices and the delivery of a range of services across the full spectrum of care. Most importantly the board envisions a community where residents can move seamlessly through levels of care without ever leaving the AVENS community.
