The RCMP “V” Division are investigating the suspicious death of a 52-year-old woman in Pangnirtung.
On October 13, at approximately 8:00 a.m., the Pangnirtung RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious death at a residence in the 500 block of Pangnirtung.
Cpl. Tammy Lobb is the RCMP “V” Division Media Liaison in Iqaluit, Nunavut.
“When police arrived on the scene, officers located a 52-year-old woman who was deceased,” Cpl. Lobb said. “A 27 year-old man from Pangnirtung has been charged with first-degree murder and he remains in custody until his next court appearance on November 5, at 9:30 a.m. in Iqaluit.”
V Division Major Crimes Unit with the assistance the Forensic Identification Services and the Office of the Chief Coroner are continuing the investigation; an autopsy is pending.
“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family during this difficult time,” Cpl. Lobb said.
The investigation is ongoing.
