RCMP investigates fatal ATV collision involving 11-year-old girl

The Rankin Inlet RCMP is investigating a fatal ATV collision that occurred yesterday.
At 9:00 p.m., the RCMP responded to a report of a side-by-side UTV collision that occurred near
the elementary school.
Cpl. Tammy Lobb is the RCMP “V” Division Media Liaison in Iqaluit, Nunavut.
“The preliminary investigation indicates the driver lost control of the vehicle and it rolled on its side,” Cpl. Lobb said. “There were four occupants in the vehicle who were all transported to the Kivalliq Regional Health Centre for treatment.”
The 13-year-old female driver and two of the passenger’s ages two and 13 were treated for minor injuries and released, Cpl. Lobb added.
“The fourth passenger, an 11-year-old girl, later succumbed to her injuries,” Cpl. Lobb said. “Our thoughts are with the family of the victim at this difficult time.”
