Michael McLeod is to remain the MP for the NWT, winning Monday’s federal election. McLeod, the Liberal candidate, won the NWT with exactly 40 percent of the votes. Conservative candidate Yanik D’Aigle came in second place with 25.8 percent of the vote and NDP candidate Mary Beckett received 21.8 percent in a third-place finish. Green candidate Paul Falvo placed fourth with 10.6 percent of the vote which meant that the PPOC candidate Luke Quinlan finished fifth receiving 1.8 percent of votes cast.
