Women in Business: Flaunt Beauty Co ready to lift your lashes

Have you ever wondered how to keep your mascara from smudging, smearing, or flaking? Flaunt Beauty Co. in Yellowknife has your answer.

It’s called an eyelash lift and tinting, which is a semi-permanent treatment that aims to curl your lashes upward so you can ditch the eyelash curler and mascara.

Owner Staci McBride is a certified Lash Technician in Yellowknife and has set up a beautiful private location in the basement of her home to service clients.

“I completed my training in May of 2017 at cosmetology school,” McBride said. “I started completing eyelash lifts on friends, family and coworkers at first.”

Lash lifting, unlike lash extensions that involve adhering false inserts to the lash line to create fullness, are all about enhancing what a person already has McBride says.

“They’re essentially like a perm for your lashes,” McBride said. “But unlike the harsh formulas that were once used to perm the hair on our heads.”

The results in lash lifting are much more natural-looking, McBride added.

“Lashes stay in shape in the wind and snow once the lift is complete,” McBride said. “I also use vegan and natural ingredients instead of harsh chemicals that can be damaging to your skin and lashes.”

McBride worked in the beauty industry for the better part of a decade with Mac Cosmetics but admits that her return to the beauty industry and home-based business has been a smart choice.

“I asked myself if I could do anything for work what would it be,” McBride said. “I didn’t know what it was going to be or how my business would turn out, it was just something that I needed, I need my quiet creative girly time.”

But lash lifting and tinting isn’t just for woman McBride says.

“I have had some male clients,” McBride said. “Their eyelashes were pointed down naturally getting into their eyes while working so my service corrected this.”

Flaunt Beauty Co. is competitively priced and has a no gratitude policy.

“I don’t accept tips,” McBride said. “For a lash lift which includes tint, the price is $105 per appointment.”

McBride says she did her research when setting her prices and admits working from home enables her to offer a lower price to her clients because she has a lower overhead cost. Plus she is her own boss and her service will help you save time when getting ready in the morning.

“You’ll be like I woke up like this,” McBride said. “Instead of using an eyelash curler every morning, which is a totally a torture device that pulls and pinches, plus the lift lasts for around two months.”

“My business is run with safety and hygienic practice customers can trust,” McBride said.
