The City of Yellowknife and The Moose 100.1 FM are running a competition for one aspiring, young politician to become Mayor for a Day.

Children in Grades 2 – 12 must declare why they want to be Mayor and state two things they would do to make Yellowknife an even better Community.

Entries should be submitted to the City by Wednesday, November 27 and Mayor Alty will announce the winner on December 2. The winner will be Mayor for the day on Friday, December 6.

Mayor Alty will be live on The Moose 100.1 FM on Monday to provide you with more information.

The Mayor for a Day will:

  • Be sworn in (unofficially);
  • Be photographed at the Mayor’s desk and in the Mayor’s seat in the Council Chamber;
  • Get a tour of City Hall and other City Facilities, including the Firehall;
  • Shadow Mayor Alty for the day;
  • Have lunch with Mayor Alty;
  • Receive a special City of Yellowknife gift bag; and
  • End the day with an on-air interview with Mayor Alty and Moose 100.1 FM.

Entries should be emailed to pmackenzie@yellowknife.ca or handed in at the administration desk of City Hall.
