Hay River RCMP charge suspect in property thefts, seek information on outstanding items

Over the last week, Hay River has experienced episodes of property theft and night time activity occurrences. Local residents have provided crucial information on the incidents which led the Hay River RCMP to apprehend a 31-year-old man from Leduc, Alberta, for various offences.

Lyndsay James Vanderlee, is charged with Theft and misuse of credit card, Theft under $5000, Possession of property obtained by crime and Failure to abide by bail release conditions. The man was held in custody and transported to Yellowknife to appear before the court. His next court appearance is December 8, in Yellowknife.

Various items have since been reunited with their owners, with other items still waiting to be claimed. The items include keys, tools, cases and electronic devices. Please contact the Hay River Detachment if any of these items may belong to you.

Outstanding is a 2012 Honda CRF 150F off-road motorcycle that is red and white in colour. This motorcycle may have been sold as stolen property or stashed somewhere within Hay River for later retrieval. If you have information relating to this motorcycle or any of the other thefts, please contact the Detachment.

The Hay River RCMP reminds citizens to please ensure that your vehicles are locked, keys are not left within and that any items of value are not accessible or easily viewed.
