Yellowknife, NWT – Hay River residents can celebrate their culture and history this weekend when the town’s Heritage Centre opens for the season.

Beatrice Lepine is vice chair of the Hay River Museum Society Board.

“It’s important for all of us for our own personal identities to be reflected in institutions. This year we’re working towards a couple of new exhibits. One is on Métis culture and history and the other is on K’atl’odeeche culture and history.”

Lepine says the centre is also looking to fill board member and volunteer positions.

The opening happens between 2 and 4 Saturday afternoon.
