WestJet’s Yellowknife-Calgary service is going year-round

WestJet has announced its flights between Yellowknife and Calgary will now form a year-round service.

Previously, Yellowknife-Calgary had been a seasonal route.

From October 25 this year, the route will become a daily, year-round operation for the airline. WestJet included the change in a broader announcement relating to international routes, and said it came “in direct response to demand”.

The move suggests WestJet has enjoyed success with the introduction of its Yellowknife-Calgary route, which only came into being on May 3 this year.

WestJet initially announced in January that the route would operate until October 24.

The addition of a Calgary route matches Air Canada. Both airlines now operate daily services from Yellowknife to Edmonton and Calgary.

Canadian North and First Air both offer scheduled flights between Yellowknife and Edmonton.
